Writer: The NY PulseThe NY Pulse

On February 19, 2025, at about 10:47 a.m., State Police in Watertown conducted a traffic stop on Jonhson Road in the town of LeRay on a 2020 Mercedes Benz that appeared to have fraudulent license plates. The vehicle registration was determined to be suspended for insurance lapse and the plates were surrendered to the Department of Motor Vehicles. Subsequent investigation confirmed that the license plates were printed from an online source and were illegally affixed to the vehicle.

The operator of the vehicle, Shanique S. Coley, age 29, from Evans Mills, NY, was arrested for:

Possession of a forged instrument (class “D” Felony)

Coley was issued numerous traffic tickets for No License Plate and Registration suspended.

Coley was arraigned at Watertown City Court, issued an appearance ticket returnable to LeRay Court on February 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., and released to Fort Drum Military Police.
