LATHAM, N.Y. — What started as a single fraud investigation against a Nassau man has grown, with more victims stepping forward and new charges filed, according to New York State Police.
Troopers say 63-year-old Patrick Walsh was arrested again on September 16, 2025, after investigators uncovered another scheme dating back to the spring of 2023. In that case, Walsh allegedly promised to sell construction equipment to a victim, who paid him a deposit of more than $3,000. Investigators say Walsh never delivered the equipment and failed to return the money, resulting in the theft of more than $1,000.
Walsh, already being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility on a separate but similar case, was brought to SP Latham for processing before being arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court. He was then remanded back into custody.
Original Charges
Walsh was first arrested on May 5, 2025, after Troopers discovered he had defrauded multiple victims between August 2024 and February 2025 in Schodack, N.Y. During that time, he allegedly collected thousands of dollars from victims in exchange for items such as recreational vehicles and concert tickets, but never delivered what he promised. Authorities estimate those losses exceeded $20,000.
Investigation Expands
The new charges came after State Police issued a press release in August, which prompted additional victims to come forward. Walsh now faces multiple counts, including Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and Scheme to Defraud in the First Degree.
Investigators believe there may still be other victims who have not yet reported their losses. Anyone with information is urged to contact State Police at 518-457-6811 or email crimetip@troopers.ny.gov.
