State Police Arrest Albany Man Following Pursuit

Press Release

On April 1, 2026, State Police of the Capital arrested Christopher J. Soto, 19, of Albany, NY, for:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th, a class “E” felony

  • Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, 3rd, a class “A” misdemeanor

  • Resisting Arrest, a class “A” misdemeanor

  • Numerous vehicle and traffic law violations


On April 1, 2026, at about 12:42 p.m., troopers attempted to stop a vehicle on Second Street in Albany for a vehicle and traffic law violation. The driver, later identified as Soto, failed to comply, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit ended when Soto lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a building on North Manning Boulevard. Soto then fled on foot but was quickly taken into custody. Further investigation discovered the vehicle had been reportedly stolen from Lark Street shortly before the pursuit was initiated.


Soto was transported to SP Capital for processing. He was then arraigned at the Albany City Court, where he was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash, or $30,000 bond, or a $60,000 partially secure bond.
