Late-Night Crash in Oneida County Sends Multiple to Hospital – Here's What Happened

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, on February 25, 2025, at approximately 11:34 P.M. Deputies responded to a two-car personal injury motor vehicle accident that occurred on State Route 5, in the Town of Westmoreland.

Deputies determined that Indir Dzambic, age 27, of Herkimer, was traveling east on State Route 5 in a 2010 BMW when he failed to maintain his lane of travel, crossing the center line, and collided with a 2015 Toyota RAV4, traveling west, operated by Ko Lay, age 21, of Utica. Phari Dar, age 45 of Utica, and Ohma Ya, age 25 also of Utica were passengers in Lay's vehicle. Westmoreland Fire Department responded to the scene and all parties involved were transported to The Wynn Hospital for evaluation.  

Deputies determined that Dzambic was at fault for the accident. 

The Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by members of the Westmoreland Fire Department, Vernon Fire Department, Edwards Ambulance, AmCare Ambulance Service, Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Merrell's Collision, and Upstate Auto Gallery.
