Barn Fire in the town of Aurelius results in loss of livestock

On April 13, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the New York State Police responded to a reported barn fire at 1981 State Route 326 in the town of Aurelius, Cayuga County.
Troopers, along with multiple responding fire departments, arrived on scene to find a barn fully engulfed in flames. The property owner reported that approximately 40 ducks, 30 turkeys, several chickens, and one pig were inside the structure at the time of the fire and were unable to escape. Tragically, all animals perished.
No injuries to persons were reported.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The investigation remains ongoing.
