Oneida County, NY – In a disturbing incident that has raised concerns about security at local correctional facilities, a Frankfort woman was arrested on February 21, 2025, after an investigation revealed her involvement in smuggling prison contraband into the Oneida County Correctional Facility.

The investigation began on February 12, 2025, when deputies from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Road Patrol Division responded to a contraband complaint at the facility. After a thorough investigation, authorities identified Alicia M. Pugliese, 35, as the suspect. She was arrested and charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, both Class A misdemeanors.

Pugliese was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and remains in custody at the Oneida County Correctional Facility as she awaits her Centralized Arraignment.

This arrest shines a spotlight on the ongoing issue of prison contraband and the challenges faced by correctional officers in preventing illegal items from entering the facility. While the exact details of the contraband involved are yet to be revealed, the charges signal a serious breach of security.
