Asphalt roller operator killed in Wayne County crash
On October 20, 2026, at approximately 3:33 p.m., New York State Police from SP Lyons responded to a fatal crash involving a passenger vehicle and an asphalt roller on Warncke Road in the town of Lyons, Wayne County.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2018 Subaru Legacy, operated by Kelli M. Conrow, age 22, of Lyons, was traveling southbound on Warncke Road when it struck the rear of a Caterpillar asphalt roller operated by a 67-year-old male.
The impact caused the operator of the asphalt roller to be ejected. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
No signs of impairment were observed.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
