Press Release

On March 10, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the New York State Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on State Route 17K in the Town of Crawford.

A preliminary investigation determined that a Town of Crawford Police Officer observed a 2011 Nissan traveling on the wrong side of the roadway. The officer activated emergency lights and sirens and followed the vehicle at a safe distance as it continued southbound on State Route 17K.

The operator of the Nissan, identified as Marilyn Duncan, age 81, of Middletown, NY, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck an unoccupied, parked 2012 Honda on the westbound shoulder. The Nissan then entered a ditch. As a result of the initial impact, the Honda was pushed into two additional parked vehicles, a 2023 Subaru and a 2013 Toyota.

Duncan and her 8-year-old passenger were transported to Orange County Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that Duncan experienced a medical event at the time of the collision.

Witnesses also reported observing the vehicle traveling on the wrong side of the roadway and contacted 911.

The investigation remains ongoing.
