State Police charge a Plattsburgh male following an assault investigation

On September 11, 2026, the New York State Police arrested Tyler S. Cornish-Dukes, age 27, of Plattsburgh, for Assault in the 2nd Degree, two counts of Assault in the 3rd Degree, and Menacing in the 2nd Degree.

On September 11, 2026, at approximately 11:07 p.m., State Police members responded to NYS Route 9N in the town of Jay for a reported assault. An investigation determined that Cornish-Dukes was involved in a physical altercation during which he struck three female victims and one male victim before fleeing the scene.

Two of the female victims were transported to Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The male victim did not require medical treatment.

Cornish-Dukes was later located by State Police. At the time he was located, he had a laceration to his forehead. He was transported to Adirondack Medical Center for medical treatment and was subsequently released back into State Police custody.

Cornish-Dukes was transported to SP Ray Brook for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Jay Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, $10,000 bond, or a $20,000 partially secured bond.
