Peru Juvenile Arrested After Physical Altercation in Plattsburgh

On February 22, 2025, State Police arrested a 16-year-old male from Peru, NY, following a violent altercation at Champlain Centre Mall in Plattsburgh. The teen faces charges of third-degree assault, second-degree menacing, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

At approximately 3:54 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault on Smithfield Boulevard. The investigation revealed that the 16-year-old and the victim became involved in a physical altercation, during which the teen struck the victim in the face multiple times, causing injuries to the victim’s teeth. During the confrontation, the juvenile also brandished a pocket knife and made threatening remarks. After the incident, the 16-year-old fled the scene.

The victim received medical treatment for facial injuries at CVPH and was later released.

The 16-year-old was arrested and processed at SP Plattsburgh but was released on family court appearance tickets.
