New York State Burn Ban in Effect: March 16 – May 14

Writer: The NY PulseThe NY Pulse

NEW YORK – Attention New York State residents! The annual burn ban is set to take effect from March 16 through May 14 to reduce the risk of wildfires during the dry spring season.

During this period, open burning of brush, leaves, and yard debris is strictly prohibited. However, small campfires for cooking, warming, and ceremonial purposes are permitted, provided they are contained and attended at all times.

Violators of the burn ban may face hefty fines, so residents are urged to comply with regulations to protect forests, homes, and communities.

For more details, visit the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) website or check with local authorities.

Do your part to prevent wildfires—stay safe, New York!
