On August 9, 2026, at approximately 3:17 p.m., New York State Police at Homer arrested Nieves Antonio Castro Figueroa, 59, of Buffalo for the misdemeanor of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.

The Cortland County 911 Center advised a Trooper of a complaint of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado having issues maintaining a lane while on Interstate 81 in the McGraw area.  The Trooper observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on I-81 in the town of Cortlandville.

While interviewing Castro Figueroa, the Trooper detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage and characteristics commonly associated with impairment.  Castro Figueroa was asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which confirmed impairment.  He was arrested and transported to SP Homer where his reportable B.A.C was .22%. Castro Figueroa was processed and issued appearance tickets to the Cortlandville Town Court on September 14, 2026.
