State Police responded to Bear Mountain Bridge for a report of bridge jumper; Body Recovered

On August 2, 2026, at approximately 10:08 a.m., troopers assigned to the Haverstraw barracks responded to a report of an individual who had jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge.
The preliminary investigation determined that the 20-year-old male victim parked his vehicle on the eastbound side of the Bear Mountain Bridge before jumping from the bridge. The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team responded to the scene; however, the victim was not immediately located.
On August 6, 2026, the victim was recovered deceased from the Hudson River by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
