Three Arrested Following Assault at Dutchess County Fair
On August 29, 2026, at approximately 8:47 p.m., New York State Troopers and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) assigned to the Dutchess County Fair detail, located at 6636 Springbrook Avenue in Rhinebeck, New York, responded to a report of a fight in progress on the midway.
Upon arrival, a 29-year-old male victim was located bleeding from his face and with significant swelling to his left eye. An investigation determined that, while the victim was waiting to board a ride, he was assaulted by three males identified as Ryan A. Depew, 32, of Catskill, New York; Lloyd D. Depew, 31, of Kingston, New York; and Dennis J. Appollonia, 36, of Kingston, New York. The assault caused the victim to sustain serious physical injuries.
The victim was transported to Kingston Health Alliance Hospital for treatment.
On August 30, 2026, Dennis J. Appollonia was arrested and charged with Gang Assault in the Second Degree: Cause Serious Physical Injury, a class C felony, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class A misdemeanors.
Appollonia was arraigned in the Town of Rhinebeck Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, a $10,000 bond, or a $15,000 partially secured bond. He is scheduled to return on September 3, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
On August 31, 2026, Ryan A. Depew and Lloyd D. Depew were arrested and charged with Gang Assault in the Second Degree: Cause Serious Physical Injury, a class C felony, and three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class A misdemeanors.
Ryan A. Depew and Lloyd D. Depew were arraigned in the Town of Hyde Park Court and released under the supervision of probation. They are scheduled to return to the Town of Rhinebeck Court on September 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
